Mathieu Courdier graduated from a technical degree in shipbuilding then joined the ENSTA Bretagne engineering school in France Brest. He graduated in 2018 majoring in Naval Architecture. Alongside his studies he worked for 3 years as a functional simulation engineer on the energy and propulsion systems of naval vessels and submarines. Mathieu also graduated from the University of Western Brittany with a MBA.After another professional experience as naval architect supporting a fleet of offshore vessels he moved to Australia to start his PhD. He received several prizes and research grants and graduated from the Australian Maritime College in 2023 with the thesis 'Seakeeping Behaviour of a Surfaced Underwater Vehicle'.Mathieu joined MARIN's defense department in 2023 as Project Manager specialized in Seakeeping. His main expertise and interests lie in the seakeeping and maneuverability of underwater vehicles as well as the operational aspects of seakeeping. He divides his time between commercial and research projects and holds the position of Adjunct Researcher at the National Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics of the Australian Maritime College.
