Jaap de Wilde holds a MSc. in Applied Physics at University Twente in the Netherlands 1991. He joined MARIN research centre in Wageningen the Netherlands in 1998 where he presently has the position of Senior Project Manager and Team Leader at the Offshore Department. Prior to his position at MARIN he worked for 7 years at Delft Hydraulics research institute on industrial hydrodynamics internal pipe flow model testing and hydraulic research. Subjects of current special interest are risers VIV floater VIM dynamics of floaters in close proximity and wind loads. He has published more than 30 conference papers. Jaap was committee member of the 25th ITTC Ocean Engineering Committee. Jaap de Wilde has initiated managed and worked on several Joint Industry Projects in the maritime industry. He is presently JIP manager for the CABLE JIP on floating offshore wind solution and dynamic response of electric power offtake cable. Jaap is also working on the new WINDLASS JIP for wind loads on ships in port environment.
