Roll stabilisation at anchor - Hydrodynamic aspects of the comparison of anti-roll tanks and fins

Passive anti-roll tanks have become a well established means to increase the comfort of motor yachts at anchor. More recently it became clear that fin stabilizers can also be very usefull in this respect. The present paper describes the hydrodynamic characteristics of both systems and ways to compare the performance.
