On the Use of Hybrid Turbulence Models

AuthorsPereira, F., Vaz, G., Eça, L.
Conference/Journal17th Numerical Towing Tank Symposium (NuTTS 2014),Gothenburg, Sweden
Date30 sep. 2014

The aim of this work is to assess the numerical requirements, computational cost and prediction capabilities of two Hybrid formulations, Scale Adaptive Simulation (SAS)and Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation (DDES), and of the Partially-Averaged Navier Stokes (PANS) equations PANS based on an adapted k-omega SST model. The selected test case is the fow over a backwardfacing step at a Reynolds number based on the step height h of 37500.
