Numerical Uncertainty Estimation in Maritime CFD Applications

The results of a numerical uncertainty estimation procedure are presented for a variety of industrial CFD applications with a finite volume RaNS solver. The numerical uncertainty estimation is indispensable when assessing the reliability of CFD results. Highly-refined grids and good iterative convergence are required to obtain global quantities such as force coefficients with a numerical uncertainty of a few percent.
