Advisory systems are being used more and more frequently onboard ships to assist officers in operating the ship more safely and economically. By gathering data, predicting the ship performance with computational tools and comparing these results with relevant criteria the officers obtain a better understanding of the operation. An example of this is the weather and motion routing of heavy lift vessels.
