Green Water Susceptibility of North Sea FPSO/FSUs

The UK Health & Safety Executive recently undertook a study with BOMEL and MARIN to investigate the exposure of North Sea FPSO/FSUs to green water events. This paper describes the 'GreenLab' program used in the exercise and some of the general findings including the sensitivity to wave and vessel parameters. Known wave events causing damage to FPSO/FSUs have been used to compare the susceptibility levels predicted by the analysis tool for different regions of the vessels. Some mitigation measures are discussed.
