DeepStar's theme structures concerned an FPSO, SPAR and TLP exposed to the Hurricane and Loop current conditions in the Gulf of Mexico. The water depth for the FPSO and SPAR was 3,000, 6,000 and 10,000 ft; for the TLP, 3,000 and 6,000 ft. After most of the major contractors carried out analyses, a model test phase was required - unique model tests perfectly suited to MARIN's new Deepwater Offshore Basin.
