MARIN selected three innovative concepts, submitted by TWD, Vlagmolen and Weco, as winners of MARIN’s free basin slots call for 2025.
The TWD (Temporary Works Design) project addresses the critical issue of pile run events during the installation of offshore wind monopiles. Vlagmolen’s project focusses on vertical axis wind turbines, a.k.a. ‘flag turbines’, with their unique torque and vibration profile, resulting in minimal disturbance in marine environments. The primary goal of Weco’s entry is to validate the functionality and robustness of a small-scale Wave Energy Converter (WEC).
Enrico Della Valentina, senior project manager at MARIN: ‘Each year we aim to boost innovation in the Dutch maritime sector by inviting Small & Medium Enterprises (MKB) to test their new ideas and concepts for free, thus lowering the threshold for their progress. Congrats to this year’s winners and we look forward to inspiring teamwork in our basins!’
The call for 2026 will be available end of this year. For more information and updates stay tuned at www.marin.nl/mkb
