Last week Foundation Zero presented their latest, innovative research part of Project Zero, the name given to the project which refers to the built of a fossil (fuel) free sailing yacht. The study is done on a world-first system, focusing on the optimization of both propulsion and hydro-generation conducted for the build of a 69-meter fossil (fuel) free operating sailing yacht. The research is done in close cooperation between Dykstra Naval Architects and MARIN. The Project Zero research can be found on the open-source website www.foundationzero.org/insights/propellor.
The first findings were presented to the future generation of engineers, the students of the Delft University of Technology today. After this, Foundation Zero will share the first data on their website. Introduced by Louis Hamming from Vitters Shipyard, both Mark Leslie-Miller from Dykstra Naval Architects and John Huisman from MARIN engaged all students in sharing the journey of creating the combined propulsion and hydro generation system.
Foundation Zero Foundation Zero brings innovative thinkers together and works collaboratively towards technical solutions. Foundation Zero seeks to unlock new zero-emission energy sources, rethinking fundamental issues regarding energy harvesting, savings, storage, and energy management and shares its learnings openly for others to implement and use for further innovations.
