SAFETRANS: DESIGN AND OPERATE SAFE MARINE HEAVY TRANSPORTS
SafeTrans is a state-of-the art, cloud-based, integrated tool to optimize the design, verification and operation of marine heavy-lift transports and offshore installations. By leveraging a comprehensive hydrodynamic calculation method and worldwide weather databases, SafeTrans provides an effective and efficient analysis of complex transportations and installations scenarios.
Current leaders of the heavy lift industry are using SafeTrans to design their marine transportation along short and long distances, whether they are dry transports or tow-outs, pipe-lay works, platform removal, drilling and offshore installations.
SAFETRANS 10
The latest release of Safetrans (version 10 launched in 2024) transforms the software into a fully integrated web-based application, leveraging MARIN’s continuous advancements in equilibrium at speed and hydrodynamic knowledge. With enhanced components, an intuitive user interface, and advanced data visualization tabs, Safetrans 2024 offers fast and insightful results, marking a significant milestone in maritime software.
SAFETRANS PARTICIPANTS
Towing and installation of offshore facilities involves a broad spectrum of expertise and companies. The project was formed as a Joint Industry Project (JIP) with the goal to attract all the major players including towing & heavy lift companies, oil companies, drilling contractors, insurers, designers and warranty surveyors. This initiative was highly successful, bringing together 32 companies. These participants worked closely together during the development process, ensuring that their extensive experience is reflected in the Safetrans software.
After the first release in 2001, a User Group has been formed with at present 15 members, providing valuable feedback and exchange of user experience through regular group meetings. SafeTrans has been approved as engineering tool for marine transports and operations by DNV since 2007.
