Open-source semi-submersible FOWT design
Since 2022, MARIN has been working on the development of a generic open-source semi-submersible floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) floater. This floater is intended for co-operative research together with the industry into the design challenges and methodologies for industrial scale FOWT platforms. During a webinar in November 2024 we shared the results up to then and made all data publicly available. This includes a 3D CAD model of the floater design, multiple reports on the design methodology and numerical simulations, all basin data and a video recording of the webinar.
